FusionDock Pro 3 is a one-cable dock (1× upstream Thunderbolt 5), and on macOS, “universal” Thunderbolt docks like this typically top out at two extended displays—even if the same dock advertises triple-display for Windows. 

Here’s the practical reason in plain English: macOS doesn’t support DisplayPort MST for extended desktops, so a dock can’t reliably “split” one upstream video link into 3 separate extended screens the way Windows can. What you can expect on Mac with FusionDock Pro 3:

1. Best-case (most users): Up to dual external displays (e.g., dual 6K@60Hz on supported Macs), which is exactly what Pro 3 positions itself for on Mac.

2. If you physically connect a 3rd monitor, it will usually end up mirrored or not behave as a true third extended desktop (macOS limitation). 

If you must have 3 native external monitors on a Mac (no DisplayLink), go with FusionDock Max 2 instead. It’s specifically designed around the “Mac reality” (why most docks stop at two) and is positioned to deliver three native external displays on supported Apple Silicon Macs by using a different architecture than a typical one-cable dock.

On Thunderbolt 5-compatible Windows laptops, FusionDock Pro 3 can support triple 4K@144Hz (host/GPU/monitor config dependent), which is why “triple display” claims commonly appear under Windows compatibility notes.

No. A Thunderbolt dock can’t bypass macOS/Apple Silicon display limits—your Mac’s chip and model determine how many external displays it can drive. A dock can make multi-display setup easier, but it doesn’t increase your Mac’s maximum supported display count.

The dock’s own “video outputs” are the downstream Thunderbolt ports.

Thunderbolt 5 uses the same USB-C connector as Thunderbolt 3/4. Existing high-quality Thunderbolt 4 cables will work and are guaranteed for up to 40 Gbps and 100 W, but to unlock full 80/120 Gbps performance you should use a certified Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 80G cable like the one included in the box.
